Sometimes life can be hard. We can feel anxious, depressed, confused or alone. We may struggle to find happiness in ourselves, and our relationships with others. We may be trying to come to terms with loss or abuse. There may be things from the past that still trouble us, and it might not be easy to discuss our problems with friends or family.
It can be a relief to talk in confidence with someone who will truly listen and see things from our own point of view. Someone who can help us make sense of our feelings and work with us at our own pace towards finding solutions.
Lynda Scott-Noble MBACP (Accred)
My name is Lynda, and I am an experienced counsellor providing both short-term and long-term therapy in person, over the telephone and via online video sessions.
I will provide you with a safe and supportive space in which you are free to be yourself, without the worry of being judged or criticised. A space in which you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you, and explore ways in which you can begin to lead a happier, more fulfilling life.
I often use ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) in my practice which is a type of CBT. We'll start by exploring the issues that have brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With ACT we can look at ways in which you can "unhook" from difficult thoughts and feelings that are holding you back, and start making positive changes to your life.
Before setting up my private practice, I worked as a counsellor at Harrogate College and Leeds City College where I supported staff and students of all ages and social/cultural backgrounds.
In the past, I have facilitated creative workshops with young people, asylum seekers and various other community groups, around sexual and mental health awareness, bullying, identity and self-esteem. I have also worked with Leeds City Council as a harm reduction worker, providing information, advice and support to young people and adults regarding recreational substance use.
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means my practice meets the higher standard as a confident, ethical and independent practitioner. You can see the full Code of Ethics here. The BACP's register of counsellors and psychotherapists is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
I hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Certificate, and full Professional Indemnity Insurance cover.
